I know I’ve been missing for quite some time due to technical issues but I’m back now and ready to get started again. I have picked two books to start with because they’re part of a set so, let me tell you what I thought of The Waiting Duo from Clare Bentley.
Waiting to Live
Chris Harper was her brothers’ best friend, so it was only natural that Isobel Matheson would fall in love with him.
When he went away to college, she stayed in touch with him in the hopes that one day he would look at her as more than Oliver’s little sister.
But when Chris returned home after qualifying as a firefighter with a wife, Isobel knew she had missed her chance to tell him the extent of her feelings.
She did her best to hide her disappointment, however Charlotte Harper recognised the look in her eyes the minute they were introduced and was instantly intimidated by the woman who knew him so well.
Over the years of marriage, her insecurities convince her that she’s her husband’s second choice and she goes to drastic lengths to prove it.
I received and ARC copy of this book and considering it’s only the 2nd book published by this new author I was not disappointed.
It was another one that I couldn’t put down as I just needed to find out what happened next.
Although I don’t agree with the way Chris’ wife Charlie tried to teach him a lesson, I can’t say I blame her to be honest because he really was clueless about why she felt the way she did, and he didn’t really do much to put her mind at ease.
Izzy was a rock for so many people and stepped up when Chris needed her but he put too much on her and expected her to just fall in with what he needed regardless of what she wanted or how she felt.
I will admit I was not happy with the way this book ended, it left us on a real cliff hanger which I really don’t like, especially when I have to wait for the next one to come out but wait I did. I’m sure some of these authors revel in the pain of making us readers wait for a new book.
No More Waiting
Just when it looks as though Isobel Matheson will get everything she’s wanted since she was a teenager, Charlotte Harper returns home – and she has an ultimatum to deliver to her husband. Everything Isobel ever wanted hangs in the balance along with the promises Chris made.
Forced into giving his wife what she wants, Chris begrudgingly chooses his wife over his best friend, and Isobel moves in with her father to focus on repairing their broken relationship before he dies.
Soon Charlotte’s demands start to weigh on Chris, and he delivers an ultimatum of his own. But Isobel is gone, and no one will tell him where to find her.
Will Chris finally catch up to Isobel? Will Isobel let down the walls she built up to protect her? Will they get their happily ever after?
Just like the first book, I received an ARC copy of this book and I loved it and all of its characters, well except for Charlotte despite feeling sorry for her in book one by the time I got stuck into book two, I decided that she deserved to die horribly for being such a vindictive cow but that’s just me.
I could have smacked Chris in the face a few times as well for being a complete idiot, he was completely clueless sometimes but like a lot of men he doesn’t think.
Isabelle went through so much bless her so many ups and downs and my heart broke when hers did, I laughed along with her and got angry when she did, I could put myself in her shoes and lose myself in this book for ages.
Once again Clare Bentley has brought us another story that kept us interested and longing to know more.
I enjoyed every part of both of these books and I especially loved the attention to detail of the surroundings, without going into too much depth, the details given allowed me to picture the houses and places that were visited, and you can tell that the author has received some in depth knowledge and has done her research on certain aspects mentioned in the books, which I find refreshing, its lovely to have someone accurately describe things.
I cannot wait to read what’s next from her because she never seems to disappoint! I managed to catch up with Clare Bentley and she very kindly agreed to do an interview with me so we could all get to know her a little better. So, sit back and let’s find out more about this new up and coming author and find out what inspires her.
Where did you grow up?
‘I was born in the Wordsley, West Midlands, but spent most of my young life in Telford – bouncing from place to place. When I was kicked out at 16, my mom moved back to the Midlands while I stayed in Telford and it wasn’t until I found out I was pregnant that I moved back to the Stourbridge area to be closer to my mom.’
What made you want to become an author?
‘I fell in love with writing in secondary school – English was the only lesson I cared to attend and it showed in my GCSE grade. I always loved making up stories…whether that was writing them down or acting them out with my friends. It’s just always been something I felt good at.’
How long have you been writing for?
‘Wow…a long time. I started making up stories when I was about 13 or 14 and once I was a mother, I wrote fan fiction… it’s only been the last 6 years that I’ve been working to become a published author.’
Do you have a favourite genre you like to write?
‘I haven’t really settled into a genre yet. I love reading a good romance, but I think I’m going to be one of those ‘darker side of life’ authors. I think my past makes it easier for me to write a victim than perhaps it should be, but it’s what works for me. My last book was a romance and yet, it was still a little dark. I don’t want to get bored of the stories I tell, hopefully it’ll mean my readers won’t either.’
Where do you get your inspiration from?
‘Oh, my God…everywhere. My past played a huge part in my debut novel being about domestic violence – I think that’s why it was received so well, because it came from my experiences, as a child growing up in a house that was rife with it. But I can watch an episode of a TV show I enjoy, and it’ll inspire an idea. I’ve even been inspired by some songs. There’s inspiration everywhere, you just have to be paying attention to be hit with it.’
Have you ever based a character on yourselves or someone you know?
‘Absolutely. And I think that’s the beauty of characters. You can add parts of yourself that you like and leave out the parts you don’t.
There is an aspect in all of my characters that I take from my friends too, as little tributes – I’m not sure any of them notice. But the subtle hints are there. I haven’t written a full character based on one of my friends or myself – at least not in my published novels – though adding little traits they have isn’t out of the question.’
Do you read when you’re relaxing or is that too much like work?
‘I do love to read. But I can’t read while I’m writing – and I always seem to be writing these days. I’m like a sponge, so if I read a specific author while I’m writing, I tend to write like them. But I do enjoy a good book.’
Do you have a favourite genre to read?
‘I read the way I write. I don’t like to be boxed in, so I read any genre. I love Martina Cole for how dark her writing is, and I love Nicholas Sparks for how romantic his stories are, which is why I think I won’t be sticking to one genre myself. I have a few indie author friends who’s books I love, but they’re not all one genre…variety is the spice of life after all.’
How do you research specifics, like police / fire / etc protocols?
‘I like to pride myself on accuracy. I try to find any details I need through Google, but there is sometimes not enough information out there, so it helps to have a back up.’
Do you have a trusted source for specifics?
‘I don’t want to give their names, but I am lucky to have access to a police officer, a firefighter and a musician that I can ask questions of, for authenticity. If I’m unsure of anything, I can call on any of them to answer any queries I have and can’t find the answers to.’
From the books you’ve written do you have a favourite character and why?
‘I always love my female characters, more so than my male. I’m not even sure why. Kaidence will always be my favourite because she helped me tell a story that was close to my heart and she went through so much. It pained me to be in her shoes for so long, reliving what I went through as a teenager – but she emerged stronger than my original plans for her. I hope when I decide to step back into her shoes, you’ll see a different side to her.’
What was the hardest book to write?
‘What She Deserves, without a doubt. I had to tap into a part of myself that I’d suppressed for so long, in order to ensure my survival. I wasn’t the subject of domestic violence myself, but being a kid whose Mum is being abused is hard. There’s a helplessness, and a fear that is indescribable. It was hard reliving something I had put behind me – to be a wife and a mother. But it was important to me to tell this story, and for it to be raw and uncomfortable for readers… it had to be, I wouldn’t have been doing the subject justice if it wasn’t.’
Do you have a favourite author?
‘As I mentioned before, I love Martina Cole and Nicolas Sparks. But being in the indie author business has opened me up to so many other great indie authors. My favourite’s are M.B. Feeney, who’s also a magnificent friend, Holly C. Webb, R.E. Hargrave, Carrie Elks and T.S. Arthur.’
If you could co write a book with anyone else who would you choose?
‘Oh God, now you’re asking. I think it would probably have to be M.B. Feeney. I feel as though we have similar writing styles. Plus, we know each other pretty well, so I think the collaboration would work.’
If you could make any of your books into movies which one would you pick and who would play the main characters?
‘It would have to be What She Deserves…just for the message, and I know there are some domestic violence films out there, but I just think the rawness of my story may make it a little different. Kaidence would have to be played by some with a range of talents…who can play confident and playful, but also convey the fear she feels. I can think of no one more suited to the role than Rachel McAdams because I love her and there’s a confidence and vulnerability to her acting. As for Jackson – can I say Chris Evans? It’s not who I had in mind when I was writing the character, but there’s not a role I don’t love him in and he’s just so good at what he does.’
Ooh, who did you have in mind when you were writing the character?
‘Chris Wood’s character in Containment.’
What advice would you give to anyone wanting to get into writing?
‘Don’t think you’ll be successful overnight. Work at your craft and find someone who can be your support to talk you through your moments of doubt. I’m not the most confident, but I have amazing friends that help to build me up whenever I feel as though I’m not good enough.’
What’s next for you?
‘My last release was barely out before I started writing my next novel, which is titled After You’ve Gone. But that was mainly to get the opening scene written and out of my head. I have since gone back to a piece that was originally supposed to be for an anthology that didn’t go ahead, titled Looking For Him, which is another romance piece. But I have many more stories plotted out and ready to go.
I’m also part of a couple of anthologies – one of which is out already. It’s called A Hero Next Door and we’re raising money for NHS Together Charities and the All Clear Foundation. The second isn’t out yet, but it will be soon.’

Well done and congratulations Rachael on an amazing single and video.

I’m always one to believe in second chances so just because I didn’t enjoy the first book I read by Drake Leigh, I decided that I would read her latest book to see if this one was any better.
I enjoyed this one, it was a little different to what I usually read which made it more interesting and it was a really nice story.
There was a big likeness to the Stargate films and TV programs in regards to the arches, but I really enjoyed them and I think the likeness actually helped me to picture what they were supposed to look like and what happens with them.
Like I said it was a nice story but again much like Cowboy Dreams I felt that the story could have been padded out a little bit with maybe some more depth and details of Lacey’s life during school and college giving some insight to her life before joining E.C.H.O.S
Although I enjoyed the story, there were errors littered throughout the book, many were simple words where they shouldn’t be and the wrong letters on a word creating a different word or missing words that I’m sure many authors have done. However, I feel things like that should be picked up by a proof-reader or at the very least an editor, especially for the amount there were. There were also inconsistencies with some parts of the story; when Lasair left Elen she was ten and 8 (18) but when mentioning the photos in the album of her, Dillon and Sheridan it said there were pictures of the 3 of them from when she was 16 to 22, also when she was asked to help them get into Elen someone said she had lived there for 16 years so would know the layout. There were also inconsistencies like when the prisoners were lead out onto the walls they had chains around their necks and arms and then all of a sudden Lasair was cutting through the ropes around their wrists and no mention of anything around their necks.
It’s a shame that these weren’t picked up before the book went to publish because although it is a nice story these inconsistencies and errors take away from the story and distract you from what’s going on. I’m no proof-reader but if I’m picking up on these as a reader then a proof-reader or an editor should have picked up on them, that is what they’re paid for after all.
It was quite a short story based on what I’m used to and only took me one day to read through it all and that included taking breaks for things like work and dinner. I think if the author were to provide more details to her stories they would be really good.

This album may have been released just over 2 years ago but I saw Connor live for the first time in May last year on Stewart Mac’s Trio Tour and he was amazing, he has a fantastic voice along with being a very friendly, genuine, lovely young man. He interacts with his fans making the whole experience of seeing him live so much better.
Connor started out playing rugby but that wasn’t to be, it seems that the cosmos knew he was destined for something else and that something else was singing. I for one am glad he decided to go down the music path and like I’ve said many times Connor is destined for greatness.
I love this album and I can honestly say there isn’t one thing I don’t like about it, it’s a good way to cheer myself up and have a little sing and dance. My neighbours might not like it so much when I listen to it as I do tend to sing (I use the term loosely) at the top of my voice while listening to Connor’s music, new music included.
It would be hard for me to pick a favourite song from this album because they’re all awesome and I love listening to them over and over again. There are a lot of upbeat and catchy tunes on this album and you won’t be disappointed when listening to it.
Now onto his new music which I can only describe as epic!
Don’t play with a Heart – Adding a band to his music has made all the difference, where it was great to start with it has now gone to a whole new level of awesomeness. This song has a rockiness to it that is so different from previous music and has just enhanced his awesomeness in my opinion.
Deeper – If you really listen to the words of this song you can tell there is a deep story behind it, it’s a fantastic song and Connors voice is a lot more powerful on this song than on the Open my Eyes album.
Devil of the night this is Connor’s latest release and is definitely a tune that needs to be listened to at full volume. It’s one you can dance to and I’m sure there are many men out there that can relate to the lyrics of this song.
In case you weren’t too sure I love Connor Adams and his music and I cannot wait to hear what’s next to come from him, whatever it is I’m sure it’s going to be EPIC!
Connor Adams is definitely one to watch as he is destined to do great things. Check him out at http://www.connoradamsmusic.com or on one of the links below.

I found this book very enjoyable; it was a nice little escape from the world of work and home schooling. I did find it very similar to one I had read not that long ago by another author, but I find that happens within the genres, especially the romance genre and it didn’t take anything away from this story at all.
What are the chances of a one-night stand turning out to be your new boss, in a job hundreds of miles away from where you met? Not very high but unfortunately for Ellie, that is exactly what happened.
Ellie was a smart, sassy, confident young woman and Kyle sounded like every woman’s dream. This was a story of love and friendships and determination to overcome the obstacles in life, no matter what was thrown at Ellie she overcame it and came out better for it.
I loved this book from start to finish it included great detail of the people and surroundings allowing me to imagine what the houses, offices and shops in town look like as well as the characters, even the details to the clothing bought at the delicate little boutique store, it allowed me to perfectly picture what the dresses that the girls were wearing looked like.
I liked that you got the story from both Ellie and Kyle’s perspective it allowed you engage in both of their feelings and desires, so it wasn’t all one sided.
So, one night of wanting to forget about life turned into an entirely new life and an epic love story that will hopefully stand the test of time.

I said it for the first one and I’ll say it again WOW!!!
This is the first time I’ve actually gone on to read the second book in a series and reviewed it straight after but after the way Chloe ended Binding 13 I had no choice but to purchase and read the next one, she was very clever with that ending.
Much like the first one this this book started with so much emotion; my heart broke for poor Shannon and her siblings with everything they had to endure and how they had to deal with it all in the end.
I loved her relationship with Johnny, it is clear from both books that those two were meant to be together and no one was going to break them apart; not even bitchy Bella.
I loved getting to know the characters a little bit more and I would love to find out if anything ever happens between Clare and Gibsie, they’re good together and he is so funny.
Again, a book that elicited many emotions from me from happiness and laughter to sadness, fear, pain and tears it really was a fantastic book and I’m glad I’ve read them both.
There are some truly heart-breaking scenes in this book along with some truly heart-warming scenes as well, the book had everything. It was very well written and very engaging.
I will be looking out for the next instalment from the boys of Tommen because I want to find out what happens with everyone and how their lives turn out.

This book was recommended to be by M B Feeney and all I can say is WOW!
This book started with so much torment and emotion; thinking of how much bullying Shannon was subjected to not only at school but at home as well was heart-breaking. No one deserves that amount of abuse in their life and despite what she thought of herself she was a lot stronger than she realised, how she survived half of what was dished out to her amazed me.
She thought; by starting a new school she was getting a fresh new start and was looking forward to her first day at Tommen; she wasn’t expecting that first day to end early with her having received a concussion. She seems like one of the unluckiest girls around, you can’t help but feel sorry for her.
I worried for Shannon every time she stepped inside her house, the fear inside her was heart breaking, the poor girl tormented herself so much it was truly sad. I loved that Joey looked out for her but she needed someone else to look out for her, someone else that she could turn to and trust with her darkest innermost secrets and fears, hopefully Johnny will be that person for her.
By the time I was 50% into this booked I’d laughed, got mad and cried, that’s how good it was. I only put it down when the kindle needed to be recharged because I drained the battery trying to finish it. It’s longer than most books I’ve read recently, with the exception of one but it doesn’t feel like it and is a joy to read.
I loved every part of this book it would be hard to pinpoint one particular part to focus on, it was very well written and incredibly engaging.
I was quite astounded when the book came to an abrupt ending with such a cliff hanger! While I had already decided that I would read the next book in the series in the near future I find myself in need of reading it right now.

Don’t miss out or you’ll be very disappointed.
This friendly, lovely, talented young man definitely deserves 5 stars.

I’ve loved Jensen Ackles for many, many years now, so when I heard he’d released an album there was no way I wasn’t going to purchase it. I had heard him sing a couple of times on online videos and loved his voice. I will admit I didn’t really know who Steve Carlson was, but have been told by several people to check him out, so I listened to some of his music on Spotify and I liked what I heard. He also has a lovely voice. So, the two of them together on the one album made it even more of a must buy and I can honestly say I was not disappointed.
I love every song on this album and I really don’t think I could tell you which one is my favourite because as I go through and listen to the songs I find myself saying, oh I love this song over and over again. So maybe it would be easier to say this album is my favourite.
Starting with Canonball, this is a song that just seems to get me swaying when it comes on whether it’s when I’m sitting at my desk or standing in the kitchen.
My head starts bopping as soon as Let Me Be starts. I will admit to having work colleagues laughing at me for sitting in front of my screen head bopping and toe tapping. Jensen’s voice is divine on this one, I love the gravel he gives it.
This album is just full of songs that get you moving, Bound being another one of them. Steve’s voice on this track is amazing, it’s a very catchy tune and definitely has me dancing a little bit when listening to it (well not sure it can be called Dancing because that is not one of my strong suits).
Sounds of Someday is a catchy song that I love to sing along to. Jensen’s deep slow singing is very mesmerising.
I’m going to say Off My Mind is another favourite of mine to sing along to, their voices work so well together that it just makes it a great song.
Drowning! Well what can I say about this one? It’s a power rock ballad in my opinion and a beautiful example of Jensen’s powerful voice.
Another song that show Jensen’s gorgeous powerful voice is When I’m Down. I think we all want someone to carry us away when we’re down and I guess Jensen is no different from the rest of us.
Livin in You doesn’t just have me head bopping it also has me swaying, rocking side to side and tapping my toes, Steve’s vocals on this song are just sublime.
I usually listen to All Our Own with my eyes closed, swaying my head from side to side, it’s a nice relaxed tempo song that again shows off Jensen’s vocal prowess.
Dume is another slow tempo song which has much the same effect on me as All Our Own does. I find just listening to their voices very relaxing on this one and if I’m not mistaken there are also waves at the very end which add to the relaxation. It is one of the shorter tracks on the album which finishes the whole album off perfectly in my opinion.
Both Steve and Jensen have incredibly powerful voices that are amazing to listen to. I just hope Vol 1 means there is going to be a Vol2 coming soon! I would definitely recommend people buying/downloading this album for themselves, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
Check them out for yourselves on one of the links below.

A planning application has been submitted by Liverpool-based contractor PJ Percival Construction to Liverpool City Council to build a hotel and 114 apartments as part of a six-to-eight-storey development. This should not be allowed to happen, we are losing more and more venues across the UK and it needs to stop.
Parr Street Studios is an amazing place with a lot of history to it. It is a Grammy award winning recording studio complex on a little side street in Liverpool. The building incorporates a 4-star hotel, two bars, a music school and several production company offices.
Since they opened in 1991 they have seen many artists pass through their doors for recording like Coldplay, Barry Manilow, Take That, The Verve, Echo and the Bunnymen, Pulp, Donny Osmond and many many more.
As well as a recording Studio, part of Parr Street; Studio 2 has been turned into a music and event venue. I’ve been to a gig at Studio 2 and it was a fantastic place, the bar area which is set in the old control room is cool it’s a separate room but the music is still filtered through for people to be able to listen along while enjoying a drink in the bar with friends. The atmosphere in the whole place was amazing and somewhere where I hope to go again in years to come, but that won’t be possible if they demolish it to put up a hotel and flats.
Please help save Parr Street Studios and Studio 2 by signing the petition in the link below:
