It took a few songs for me to get into the album but after a few I really started to enjoy it. The more I listened to it the more I liked it. Sam is not only beautiful, but she has an amazing voice.
As I went from song to song my favourite song kept changing, I think I changed my mind at least 3 times, which can only attest to what a good album it really is.
My overall favourite was Burnt out which I felt I could relate to quite a bit, before hearing that track it was Hard Time and I really enjoyed the video on You Tube for that one too. My other favourites were Bonfire and Merry go Round.
Admittedly I listened to the album initially while there were other things going on, so I made sure I listened to it a few times before posting my review. I listened with headphones in after that to make sure I’d given myself ample time to take all the songs and lyrics in properly and to make sure I was certain on which were my favourites so I didn’t go changing my mind again.
I thought Comeback queen had a little bit of a slow rock feel to it. Devil Don’t Care was a definite fast paced toe tapper, I can imagine I would be quite worn out after trying to dance along to this track. I liked the simplicity of In the Moments, giving you the opportunity to just listen to the lyrics and Sam’s beautiful voice. Concrete tells a story of never giving up or letting people keep you down. I loved the power in Sam’s voice on Bonfire, it was amazing. I actually got up and had a little dance around the kitchen while listening to Hard Time, so it must be good if it got me moving. I loved Cruel and listening to the words I’m sure many of us have felt that way before. Burnt Out as I said above was my favourite it was relatable and not a typical love song.
I definitely recommend you check this album out and Sam’s other music too, you won’t be disappointed. I’ve posted some links below to help you find your way to her. Enjoy everyone.
